Online prostituting out of control?

Posted by jtsmyth8 on August 1, 2008

A concerned reader wrote to the citizen journalism website STOMP yesterday in response to an earlier post about a girl prostituting herself online in order to support her family. The STOMPer said that online soliciting is increasingly common in Singapore, and that this is a disgrace to society.

There have been several notable incidents regarding Singaporean women ‘advertising’ their services on various online avenues in the recent years. Singaporean websites with sexually explicit content were also brought into the media spotlight in recent months. Cases include explicit posts on an air stewardess’ blog to a political party’s online forum being spammed with porn links.

Earlier this year, a young woman who claimed to be a schoolgirl promised to fulfil fetishes by posing in her panties and selling the photos as well as the used panties. She also posted a list of other services she offers on her blog, including a sex hotline, cyber sex services and sexual videos of her wearing costumes that buyers decide.

Another teenage girl offered sexual services on her blog, stating that she charges “$200/1 shot/45 minutes” in order to earn money to help her family out with their problems. Several racy photos, presumably to entice potential ‘customers’ were also posted on the site. (story)

Sexy ads banned

Posted by jtsmyth8 on July 2, 2008

That’s ok. I already found my girlfriend this way. I don’t need the ads anymore. hehe

“Sleazy advertisements with suggestive pictures promoting matchmaking services will no longer grace the main pages of newspapers.

Such ads can only appear in text, in the classified section of print publications. And they cannot guarantee marriages.

Dating agencies accredited with the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports, however, can continue to run ads with visuals in the main pages of a print publication.” (story)

Life as prostitute ends for teen

Posted by jtsmyth8 on May 7, 2008

How do you tell your parents you have an “injured vagina”. That must have been an interesting conversation. Can you imagine how many viruses she must have caught. Sick! If you have ever considered going to use a prostitute think again! How can someone so young be so corrupted. She must have been desperate for money to sell her body.

“She is only 17 but has a bank balance of over RM80,000 ($34,450).

The first bombshell she dropped would have caused concern to any parent – her vagina was injured.

The teenager who hails from Terengganu had been offering sexual services in Kuala Lumpur since 2006, reported Harian Metro.

According to the tabloid, the girl charged between RM 2,000 and RM4,000 for her sexual services.” (story)

Sufiah Yusof has been soliciting clients online for months

Posted by jtsmyth8 on April 4, 2008

Sufiah Yusof, the child Maths genius who was found working as a hooker had been using the Internet to solicit for clients since December.

She also used a UK-based Internet sex forum and her own website “Exotic Manchester Asian escort” to promote her services.

However, the site, which she had registered and maintained herself, has been removed after News of the World broke the news of her working as a hooker.

Checks with the Internet registrar on domains revealed that Sufiah started the website on Dec 3 last year.

She bought the domain name for her webpage for two years.

Sufiah, 23, called herself Sufiah Marshall, borrowing the family name of her former husband, Jonathan Marshall, to register the website via a German domain handler.

The checks also revealed she had used a German server to host her website pages but with a United Kingdom domain name. (story)

SMRT fined $400k for service disruption

Posted by jtsmyth8 on March 10, 2008

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has fined SMRT nearly $400,000 for causing severe disruption to train services betwen the Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris MRT stations on Jan 21. Services were interrupted for seven hours and 17 minutes because one portion of a maintenance train hit another parked portion during routine maintenance works.

This happened at 3.10am on the rail section between the Tampines and Simei MRT stations. The incident immobilised one of the locomotives and a rail grinding vehicle, rendering the tracks impassable.

Normal train services resumed at 12.45pm, after the vehicles were removed.

Investigations showed that the incident was the result of SMRT not complying with operating procedures. It had not secured the parked portion of the maintenance train, made up of a locomotive and a wagon, during maintenance works. (story)
