Private matters should stay private

Posted by jtsmyth8 on September 9, 2008

I don’t know about you but some things you just shouldn’t do in public. Public displays of affection, too much skin, and more but this takes the cake. Let’s see, last month he got caught “trying to have sex with a park bench”, and now he got caught “pleasuring” himself on a bus, umm, did I miss anything? I don’t know what this says about some one’s mental state. I guess when you’re on tv you think you are entitled to pull a Pee Wee Herman because you think you are famous.

In other news there was a “mentally ill woman” who tried to strip and disrobe during the Beijing para Olympics. As you can imagine the Chinese government probably doesn’t believe the special Olympics deserves the same kind of security. Maybe it had something to do with a Tibet protest? Who knows maybe she had “Free Tibet” written on her chest and we just didn’t get to see it. Long story short, keep your clothes on kids, I don’t care what political message you have to share. If it’s important you should be able to get your message across “with” your clothes on.

Exorcism priest gets attacked

Posted by jtsmyth8 on August 25, 2008

1 of the two Catholic priests embroiled in a lawsuit concerning an ‘exorcism’ on a woman was attacked by a woman during a service at the Novena Church on Saturday.

In front of a packed congregation, the woman ran up the aisle to the altar where Father Simon Tan, 45, was standing and used her black handbag to hit the priest’s arms and shoulders.

The attack lasted just a few seconds. The woman managed to get a few swings at Father Simon before a younger woman ran up to pull her aside, with the help of several churchgoers.

Witnesses described the attacker as tanned, slim and wearing jeans and a turquoise polo T-shirt. (story)

HK buyer owns “unluckiest” license plate

Posted by jtsmyth8 on May 12, 2008

A Hong Kong woman splashed out 130,000 US dollars for a car licence plate carrying “4444”, despite the number’s traditional links to death in Chinese culture, a report said Monday.

The bidder paid one million Hong Kong dollars in a government auction of 270 unusual licence plates on Sunday, the Chinese-language Apple Daily said.

The number four is often avoided by Chinese people because its pronunciation is similar to the word for “dead”.

Some skyscrapers do not include floors that end with the number, such as 14th or fourth, as they are less likely to be rented. (story)

“Untouchable” woman dies after refused treatment

Posted by jtsmyth8 on April 25, 2008

An “untouchable” woman who gave birth outside an Indian hospital because doctors would not treat her died Thursday, a day after her baby, officials admitted.

The newborn boy of Maya Devi, 28, died Wednesday due to lack of medical help minutes after being born outside the maternity wing of Kanpur Medical College in northern Uttar Pradesh state.

Devi was only put in intensive care after giving birth but she died of a heart attack early Thursday morning.

Several doctors, including the hospital’s chief medical superintendent, had refused to touch her or provide medical care as she delivered her baby, the Press Trust of India reported. (story)

Artists pushing boundaries between art and porn

Posted by jtsmyth8 on April 2, 2008

Egyptian artist Ghada Amer says her work is inspired by erotica, pornography and the empowerment of women.

Amer and Iranian-born artist Reza Farkhondeh collaborate on delicately colored but unsettling works. She takes blown-up images from porn magazines, then he paints or prints birds, flowers, and pale washes on top, obscuring the underlying forms. The final layer is embroidered by Amer.

But as artists-in-residence at Singapore’s leading print institute, Amer and Farkhondeh wonder whether their works — juxtaposing oral sex and floral patterns, or a quote from the Koran framed by images of Wonder Woman — will ever be seen here because of government restrictions.

Singapore bans pornography and has an ambivalent attitude to nudity. The government wants to encourage the arts so that Singapore can compete with cultural centers such as London and New York, but only last month stopped a commercial gallery from showing a painting of a female nude in a public space.
