Australian pilot fined for violating Singapore airspace

Posted by jtsmyth8 on April 1, 2008

An Australian pilot, whose intrusion into Singapore airspace caused fighter jets to scramble, was fined S$5,000 by a judge on Tuesday.
Rhys Henry Thomas, 59, had pleaded guilty a day earlier to flying without an airworthiness certificate.

Judge Danielle Yeow ordered him to pay the maximum fine, but he avoided a jail term of up to one year.

Singapore scrambled two F-16 fighter jets on January 22 to intercept Thomas’ Cessna – defence officials said that the plane did not have an approved flight plan. (story)

SMRT fined $400k for service disruption

Posted by jtsmyth8 on March 10, 2008

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has fined SMRT nearly $400,000 for causing severe disruption to train services betwen the Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris MRT stations on Jan 21. Services were interrupted for seven hours and 17 minutes because one portion of a maintenance train hit another parked portion during routine maintenance works.

This happened at 3.10am on the rail section between the Tampines and Simei MRT stations. The incident immobilised one of the locomotives and a rail grinding vehicle, rendering the tracks impassable.

Normal train services resumed at 12.45pm, after the vehicles were removed.

Investigations showed that the incident was the result of SMRT not complying with operating procedures. It had not secured the parked portion of the maintenance train, made up of a locomotive and a wagon, during maintenance works. (story)

Man meets girl, films oral sex, fined $1000

Posted by jtsmyth8 on January 25, 2008

How dumb is this girl? Anytime a guy wants to film is so he can show it off to his friends or upload it to the Internet. NO he does not really love you and NO it doesn’t mean that you really love him if you let him film you naked. Wow, are women really this dumb? My question is: did she spit or swallow?

“He brought the woman, a student, up to the 11th floor where she performed oral sex on him while he filmed the entire act on his digital camera.

The clip was downloaded onto his computer but it was later circulated on the Internet before the girl found out about it and reported it to the police.” (story)

Man arrested for indecent bikini exposure

Posted by jtsmyth8 on December 17, 2007

Um, what? Some people have the strangest fetishes. I don’t even want to think of the “bits” hanging out. Eww. Gross. I bet he was all hairy too. YUCK! HAHAHA. Poor woman. Us men are not like that … mostly. Check my closet no pink bikinis … at least none that belong to me. AND I don’t wear them. I bet that guy is wishing he’d thrown out the “obscene” videos before the cops showed up. Move to the U.S. I’m sure he’d fit right in.

“A man who exposed himself by wearing a pink bikini was jailed a day and fined a total of $11,000 for insulting modesty and other offences. Tan Wen Zhong, 21, admitted to five charges, ranging from theft to outrage of modesty, between 2005 and this year.

He could not explain how he came to have those items. Police also found five video CDs containing four obscene films.” (story)

Nightclub fined in human trafficking scheme

Posted by jtsmyth8 on October 31, 2007

A nightclub fed the immigration authorities the story that it had hired four Chinese nationals as stage singers. The truth was that the women weren’t even working there, and were paying the club and a middleman to pull this off.

On Wednesday, Grand Century Nite-Club was fined $12,000 for ‘sponsoring’ the women’s immigration passes.

A district court heard that the club applied for the passes for them between December 2004 and July 2005.

The women, aged between 25 and 31 and seeking extensions on their stay here, had approached the club through a middleman.

Each paid the man between $400 and $500 every time she needed to extend their stay; each also paid the club $600 each time she required it to apply for the passes on her behalf. (story)
