Cheating Bastards

Posted by jtsmyth8 on June 15, 2009

Surprise, surprise. Students, teachers, and others 34 in all arrested for cheating on the state exam. These students are competing for more than just test scores, they are competing for a way of life. Ace the exam and you live amongst the elite and corrupt. Nice cushy state jobs where you can start accepting bribes right away. I’m sure it’s not the first time nor will it be the last.

Have no fear. Those who fail miserably can go on to a life of additional cheating. Take for example the Chinese anti-porn software company. All you need to do is copy someone else. Steal the software, copy the code, and then re-brand it and sell it as your own. Then bribe your buddy in the government to make it mandatory on every pc sold. Then sit back and count the money. Hopefully the Americans won’t notice … oops.

Well there’s always the military.

Censorship Software Fail!

Posted by jtsmyth8 on June 12, 2009

China’s attempts at implementing a mandatory software censorship program is an utter failure. Linux and Apple users can simply bypass the program altogether since no version exists that is compatible for their platforms. As well the software is very problematic. Popular common sites that are clean are blocked by the program. So far the manufacturer’s website has been bombarded with download request and has been getting timed out. However the lucky 3 million users have managed to download and install the software. Results are inconsistent at best. Some report being able to freely visit pornographic sites while others simply searching for animal cartoons have been blocked and deemed offensive. On top of this the site isn’t even secure. Any aspiring hacker could potentially gain access to the site, install malware, and easily compromise millions of more computers. Looks like China’s attempts at censorship is yet another utter failure.

Something Good out of Japan

Posted by jtsmyth8 on June 8, 2009

Finally something good out of Japan, -er, that isn’t robot related. Lawmakers have come to their senses and have decided to ban rape games. Hooray! Personally I’m quite disgusted by this whole genre. I have no idea how this entire segment has existed for a few decades. It really is quite a sick fetish even by the most depraved standards. Anime is fine and all but some have just taken it too far. It’s all a result of a protest to a certain game by a women’s rights group brought attention to it.

“The adult software games industry had sales of 34.1 billion yen ($353 million) in 2007, according to Yano Research Institute’s Otaku Market report. Japan’s PC software sales were 80 billion yen in 2007.”

No Hidden Cam for Edison

Posted by jtsmyth8 on June 2, 2009

After a long period of silence Edison has spoken up over the sex photo scandal. Looks like those lovely ladies knew exactly what they were getting into. He must be one smooth operator to get them to go along with getting photographed in compromising positions. Edison Chen reiterated that the photos were consensual and nothing deceptive occurred during his naked photo sessions. The new information came out during a CNN Talk Asia interview he gave recently.

“A Hong Kong computer technician was last month jailed for eight-and-a-half months for stealing the photos from Chen’s laptop when he sent it in for repairs, but it is still unclear how the pictures made their way onto the Internet.”
