Formula 1 race should boost business for all

Posted by jtsmyth8 on September 23, 2009

Tourists hoping to see fast cars (and get some fast women) should be in luck this year. There are plenty showing off their wares on Orchard Rd. The race attracts racing fans from around the world and many of them wealthy. That’s what escorts and others working in the red light district are hoping. Ever since the crackdown on prostitution income business has been slow for many. But the latest tourist attraction hopes to lure those looking for a good time. Good luck ladies!

Formula One ticket buying process a major hassle

Posted by jtsmyth8 on February 15, 2008

When tickets for the world’s inaugural Formula One night race went on sale on Thursday morning, fans were expecting a well-oiled ticketing machinery at work. Instead, what happened when the starting flag came down was complete chaos.

A server error caused the entire ticketing system to foul up. Fans tried for hours to get through the ticketing website and failed.

Even as late as 5pm, fans called up The Straits Times to say they were having problems getting into the F1 website to buy tickets.

Those who tried calling also could not get through.

Some who tried both and failed rushed down in the hope they would have better luck buying over the counter. They were wrong. (story)

“First, he bagged an ace at the eighth hole of Laguna National Golf and Country Club’s Masters Course on Tuesday morning, while playing in the club’s Youth League Finals.

Hours later, the scratch golfer was presented with the inaugural Tay Cheng Khoon Eagle Award for being the HSBC Laguna Youth Golf programme’s most outstanding performer.” (story)

The government will seek proposals from the private sector in May next year to build a permanent race track in Changi, eastern Singapore, according the Singapore Sports Council.

“The government has identified the motor sports industry as a growth industry that will contribute to sports development and the economy in Singapore,” said Vivian Balakrishnan, minister for community development, youth and sports, in a statement Friday.

The racetrack is expected to be completed by early 2011.
