Mobile tv to become bidding war

Posted by jtsmyth8 on November 22, 2007

At least 3 mobile TV operators will be bidding to beam sports, news and lifestyle programmes to cellphone users here next year. Upstarts PGK Media, Innoxius Technologies and GoMobile, which have tested the technology this year, are promising a wide variety of programmes on the small screen if they win their bids.

Users can expect to watch both free-to-air channels and paid channels that could each cost from $3 a month.

Even MediaCorp, which now shows its programmes on buses, is considering beaming them to the small screen.

This comes a day after the Media Development Authority (MDA) said it was giving out up to four licences to operate such services next year. (story)
