More funding for youth guidance program

Posted by jtsmyth8 on November 20, 2007

To help more such offenders, the Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports is pumping $300,000 more into its ‘guidance program’ to reform them.

This extra sum, which is 25 per cent more than the $1.3 million the Government is spending on the program yearly, was announced by MCYS Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on Tuesday.

Addressing a conference on rehabilitation of youth offenders, the minister said the guidance program has made a ‘real difference’ to help save young lives.

‘So we will invest more in it, and provide agencies with more resources to expand their good work,’ said Dr Balakrishnan. (story)
