Student fined $7,000 for 2 deaths

9 months after an undergraduate had obtained her driving licence, she caused the deaths of a couple on a motorcyle at Jurong East.

Hnin Thazin alias Lin Tai Ling, 20, was fined $7,000 and banned from driving for three years after she pleaded guilty on Friday to one charge of causing death by her negligent act.

She was driving a Toyota car with her parents along Jurong East Street 21 outside IMM Building at about 9.10pm on July 30 last year when she failed to keep a proper lookout when overtaking a stationary car on the right.
