Civil servants to get pay raise

Posted by jtsmyth8 on October 25, 2007

As part of an ongoing pay revision exercise, the Civil Service will raise the salaries of some of its officers from January.

They will have a more competitive remuneration package which pegs pay to performance, as well as better career prospects for all.

There will also be a Growth Bonus to reward officers.

27-year-old Ong Boon Sze has a lot to look forward to in the coming year.

A staff looking into Student Care Centres at the Community Development, Youth and Sports Ministry, she is one of the 13,700 of 60,000 civil servants who will be affected by the pay revision.

This round, diploma holders like Ong stand to gain, along with graduate officers and “O” and “A” level holders.

Review for officers in other schemes such as the Education Service and the Uniformed Groups are ongoing and they are not affected in this round.
